Ricci, a Los Angeles based painter remixes the traditional techniques of painting by creating abstract color theory based compositions.  His methodical process of painting intensifies the viewer’s experience through its seductive layers of color, texture and composition. Ricci bridges the gap between the conventional and unconventional ways of painting by mixing and layering pure pigments of color and binders on unprimed linen, canvas and other materials. His abstract compositions are constructed through the use of scraping tools, poured paint and fabrics to create works that are reminiscent of color theory painters in the past juxtaposed with the artist’s updated approach on the classics. Ricci’s layered abstracted color field paintings are serene yet seductive, modern yet classic and begs to be experienced and examined in person.
